In 1986, the Royal Motocross boot introduced a new raised point protection system which determined the evolution of deflector system. A year later, Sidi became one of the first companies to put its faith in Lorica, a new synthetic material, very similar to leather but more consistent in quality for use in mass production.

The next technical innovation was the Flex Force adjustable calf system. An internal plate is adjustable and fits snugly around the calf muscle, and is also entirely replaceable.
